Our Story
Built for aviation businesses where credibility decides the sale.
Off The Ground Marketing was founded in 2018 with a simple belief: aviation businesses deserve specialist digital marketing built around the way aviation buyers actually research, verify, and enquire.

Trusted by aviation brands since 2018

Why We Exist
Most agencies do not understand aviation well enough to sell it.
General digital agencies often treat aviation the same as e-commerce. They chase clicks, not qualified leads. They write blog posts that sound plausible but miss the technical nuance that builds real authority with your audience.
We started Off The Ground because we saw a gap: flight schools, private jet charter operators, aircraft management companies, enterprise UAV teams, and aviation suppliers were underserved. Their buyers are educated, trust-driven, and research-intensive. You cannot win them with generic content.
Over time, we expanded selectively into aerospace and adjacent technical sectors where the same principles apply: expertise-first content, technical SEO, and a website that actually converts. Aviation remains the centre of the business.
Every client gets a proposal by email within 48 hours. No sales calls. No retainer lock-ins. Just clear strategy, sector-aware recommendations, and measurable results.

How We Work
What you can expect from us.
Aviation before everything else
We lead with aviation, then support adjacent aerospace and technical sectors where the same credibility rules apply.
Operationally literate
We build marketing around real aviation terminology, regulated environments, and buyers who verify details before they enquire.
Results over reports
We measure success by qualified enquiries, sales conversations, and pipeline movement, not vanity metrics.
Direct and low-overhead
No unnecessary meetings or status calls. Strategy, updates, and reporting are delivered in writing — clear, on time, and on your schedule.
Who You're Working With
Joey Pehrson
Founder & Director | Commercial Pilot | Former Flight School General Manager
Joey founded Off The Ground Marketing in 2018 with one goal: give aviation businesses the same quality of digital marketing as any major brand — without the agency overhead or the generic content that comes from working with people who have never set foot in a hangar.
Joey is a commercial pilot and CASA Grade 2 flight instructor, and spent several years as the general manager of a flight school before building the agency — which means when he writes about flight school marketing, charter operations, or FBO positioning, he is writing from the inside. He has run the P&L, hired the instructors, chased the CASA audits, and personally answered the discovery-flight phone. He understands Part 61, Part 141, Part 135, and the operational realities of running aviation businesses under CASA, FAA, CAA, and EASA regulatory frameworks.
Before aviation, Joey spent several years at the highest levels of Australian political digital communications, including the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister. That background in high-stakes, research-driven campaign strategy now goes directly into how he builds marketing programs for aviation clients across enterprise drone services, aircraft management, MRO, and aerospace.
The wider team is aviation-native too. Every person on OTG's content, SEO, PPC, and design side holds an aviation background — whether that's flight training, airline ops, drone operations, or aerospace supply-chain work. No handoff between a marketer writing copy and an operator checking it — the operator is writing it.
OTG now serves aviation businesses in Australia, the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, and New Zealand — building topical authority, strengthening search visibility, and generating qualified enquiries across every major aviation sub-sector.

The team behind the work
Every person on OTG carries an aviation background.
OTG is deliberately built without the handoff pattern that forces generalist agencies to translate aviation briefs into generalist marketing. The operator on your account is the person writing the content, auditing the search strategy, and making the conversion decisions. Every team function — content, SEO, paid, design — is held by someone with direct aviation operating experience.
Founder & strategy lead
Commercial pilot, former general manager of a flight school, CASA Grade 2 flight instructor. Background in Australian political digital communications including the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister.
Aviation content and research
Writers and researchers with direct flight training, airline operations, or aerospace supply-chain backgrounds — the content is written by operators, not translated from generalist drafts.
SEO and technical strategy
Search strategy leads with hands-on aviation-sector SEO experience across flight schools, charter, aircraft management, and aerospace supplier programmes.
Paid search and conversion
Google Ads and paid search specialists who have run aviation campaigns for discovery-flight funnels, charter quote requests, and enterprise drone enquiry pipelines.
Design and front-end build
Design and front-end team with direct aviation-site build experience — portfolio-quality sites specifically for flight schools, charter operators, MROs, FBOs, and aerospace suppliers.
Sector advisors (on-call)
Operators we call on for sector-specific technical review: Part 135 charter, Part 145 maintenance, Part 107 / BVLOS drone operations, and aerospace procurement. Content passes an operator check before publication.
We keep individual team details off the public site by design — aviation clients buy the work, not the bio. What matters is that nobody on the team needs aviation translated for them.
