Case Study
29,668 monthly search impressions in one quarter — with zero marketing content
The Flight Brief is OTGM's own aviation publication: 127 live articles across industry news, careers, technology, general aviation, and maintenance. Built from a standing start to 29,668 monthly search impressions at +100.6% quarter-on-quarter growth, reaching readers in 50+ countries — without a single piece of marketing content. The editorial integrity system behind it (an evidence-review standard that has withdrawn 160 of 225 pages for insufficient sourcing) is the same discipline OTGM brings to client work.

The challenge
What The Flight Brief needed to solve
Aviation marketing agencies talk about audience building, but almost none own a publication that proves it. The challenge was self-imposed: build an aviation audience asset from zero, in public, using only the disciplines OTGM sells — search-driven content architecture, editorial credibility, and technical build quality — with a hard rule of no marketing content, because credibility is the product.
Our approach
How the engagement was delivered
Editorial architecture
Scoped five coverage areas an aviation audience actually researches — industry news, careers & workforce, technology, general aviation, maintenance & MRO — and mapped the search demand in each before a single article was written. Opinion exists as its own lane so it never contaminates the factual coverage.
Search-first content system
Every article targets verified search demand pulled from Google Search Console evidence, not guesswork. Titles and descriptions are CTR-optimised from real impression data (a 19-page CTR gap analysis drove the title rewrites).
Integrity by design
Built an evidence-review standard that audits every article against its sources. 160 of 225 pages were withdrawn rather than published with claims the evidence couldn't support — each with a public corrections ledger and a human reinstatement gate. The publication is smaller and slower because of it, and that is the point.
Distribution surfaces
Google News Publisher Center registration, a live news sitemap, sponsorship packages with honest reach numbers on /advertise, and a media kit that shows the actual GSC data — the same transparency standard OTGM applies to client reporting.
Timeline
Q2 2026: launch and first content waves. Q3 2026: CTR optimisation batch from GSC evidence, Google News registration, authority-integrity review. Ongoing: demand-reviewed content waves with the evidence standard as the publication gate.
Results
What the work produced
29,668
Monthly search impressions
Latest 28-day GSC window at time of publication of these numbers (media kit, live on the site). Built from zero in one quarter.
+100.6%
Impression growth QoQ
Quarter-on-quarter growth from the GSC 28-day comparison window. Clicks grew +144.4% over the same comparison.
56% / 2.9%
US impression share / AU CTR
The audience is genuinely international: 56% of impressions come from the United States, with Australia the second market at a 2.9% click-through rate.
160
Pages withdrawn under the evidence standard
Pages whose sourcing failed the evidence-review audit were withdrawn publicly rather than left live. 65 of 225 remained indexable — the publication chose credibility over scale.
