Case Study
A live charter-quoting SaaS with billing, auth, and 21 passing end-to-end tests
FareBuild (farebuild.com) is OTGM's own charter quoting SaaS for operators — the deepest proof that "marketing agency" undersells what this business builds. A production Next.js application with Firebase authentication, Cloud SQL PostgreSQL, Stripe subscriptions, an AI natural-language quote parser ("6 pax from Sydney to Byron Bay on Friday at 10am"), fuel-stop planning for routes exceeding aircraft range, and 21 Playwright end-to-end tests covering everything from signup to double-booking prevention.

The build
The site we built for FareBuild.
The live homepage at farebuild.com, captured from production — every training pathway, pricing detail, and booking step built to turn quiet research into real enquiries.

The challenge
What FareBuild needed to solve
Charter operators quote by email and lose deals to whoever answers fastest. The commercial hypothesis: a quoting engine that turns a plain-English trip request into a priced, feasible, sendable quote in seconds would compress the charter sales cycle and capture demand that currently evaporates. The build standard was set deliberately high — production billing, real authentication, end-to-end test coverage — because the product is also proof of OTGM's software capability.
Our approach
How the engagement was delivered
Operational fluency into code
The pricing engine encodes real charter economics: distance-based hourly rates, fuel surcharges, landing fees, crew day rates, minimum hours, and fuel-stop planning for legs exceeding aircraft range. The aircraft recommender matches passenger count, range, and runway requirements to the fleet — ICAO/IATA airport search included.
AI where it earns its place
The natural-language quote parser turns "6 pax from Sydney to Byron Bay on Friday at 10am" into a structured, priced quote. Scenic routes get public booking widgets and shareable accept/reject quote links — operators see a real product surface, not a chatbot demo.
Production-grade engineering
Firebase Auth with server-side verification, Cloud SQL PostgreSQL, Stripe subscriptions with a checkout audit that caught and fixed real security issues (operator-scoped data access, plan persistence, fail-loud URL handling). 21 Playwright tests cover auth, fleet CRUD, quote pricing, public booking, and double-booking prevention.
Honest pre-revenue state
The database is a clean slate and the first paying customers are the next milestone. We publish that state rather than hiding it — the case study is the build and the architecture, and the standard it was held to.
Timeline
2026 H1: concept and validation interviews. 2026-08: product pivot to WIP=1 priority. 2026-09: live on farebuild.com, signup-to-database verified end-to-end, checkout audit shipped. Next: first paying operators.
Results
What the work produced
21
Playwright E2E tests passing
Auth flows, aircraft CRUD, scenic routes, quote pricing with feasibility warnings, and public booking including double-booking prevention.
Seconds
Plain-English request to priced quote
The NL quote parser turns a natural trip request into a structured quote with pricing, feasibility, and aircraft recommendation.
E2E
Signup to Stripe checkout, verified live
Real Firebase signup through to Stripe subscription checkout, verified end-to-end on production (2026-09-09), with the security audit fixes shipped.
Pre-revenue
Published honestly
Zero paying customers at time of writing — the DB was wiped to a clean slate after testing, and first revenue is the explicit next milestone. The proof here is the build standard, not a revenue claim.
